Description

Antonio Cuellar, a native of one of the oldest municipalities in Colombia, Timana in the department of Huila. Due to its strategic location on the central mountain range, its height of 1100 metres above sea level and its average temperature of 24 degrees make it a suitable place for agriculture, more specifically in the cultivation of coffee, where it becomes one of the largest producers in Huila.

From a very young age, Antonio knew that he wanted to pursue a military career, where he worked for 23 years. For the year 2014 he made the decision to retire and make a radical change in his life, through the family of his wife he got to know the world of coffee, since they had crops in the Perijao mountain range to the south of the Guajira. At that time his knowledge of the subject was very little, however he decided to dedicate himself completely and learn everything related to coffee production; Since what he had learned was not enough, he found himself in the need to immerse himself further in the coffee world by completing studies with agricultural training, programs focused and specialised in coffee crops.

Today his farm La Virginia and his product are the tools he has for experimentation with processes to obtain better results not only in quality but also in economy. The process that it carries out on its lots depends a lot on the varieties, one in particular, such as the pacamara, is carried out as follows: Once the entire lot is harvested, the coffee is pulped and fermented in plastic tanks in anaerobic processes. for a period of 280 hours, then it is washed once with plenty of water and finally taken to the dryer where it remains for 15 to 17 days until it reaches the ideal humidity for commercialization.
In this way Antonio guarantees that his coffee varieties Pacamara, Caturra, Bourbon Cidra, Bourbon Rosado, Gesha, Caturra Chirosa, continue to maintain their excellent quality in the cup and open up many more opportunities for growth both personally and in the quality of their coffee.
